Giorgetti Stresses Importance of Bank Contribution to National Finances

Pesaro: A contribution to the national finances from bigger taxes on banks is absolutely necessary, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti stated Tuesday. He emphasized that the government would not resort to coercive measures to ensure compliance.

According to Ansa News Agency, Giorgetti spoke at a livestreamed League party election event in Pesaro, addressing the issue of bank taxation. He remarked, “We’re not going on a crusade; we’ll sit down with them and find a way for them to contribute to the tax relief. I think it’s absolutely necessary.”

Giorgetti further highlighted the disparity in financial results across various sectors over the past five years, noting the severe impact of energy costs on some, while others, like the banking sector, have achieved substantial profits. He stated, “I believe that within a systemic logic, without bullying anyone, it’s right that everyone contributes.”
