Gaza Parish Priest Recalls Late Pope’s Daily Calls During Illness

Gaza: A Gaza parish priest revealed that the late pope maintained daily phone calls with him, even during the most challenging days of the pope’s recent illness, expressing that “the pope loved us so much.”

According to Ansa News Agency, the parish of Gaza gathered in prayer for Pope Francis following his death on Monday. A portrait of the pope has been displayed prominently in the church as part of the community’s tribute. The parish initiated a spontaneous prayer session in the morning, which will culminate with a community gathering at 5 pm.

The Argentine parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli, expressed gratitude and prayed for the pope. Father Romanelli emphasized the pope’s dedication to the Gaza church and his efforts in advocating for justice and peace. Despite the conflict in the region and the pope’s hospitalization in Rome, their daily telephone conversations continued uninterrupted.
