Gaza Attack Criticized by Italian Defence Minister
Rome: Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on Tuesday criticised the offensive Israel has launched on Gaza City, stating that he believes it will be counterproductive. Speaking on the sidelines of the Defence Procurement Forum, Crosetto expressed his concerns about the implications of the attack for Israel’s security and the broader Middle East region.
According to Ansa News Agency, Crosetto remarked, “I don’t think the attack on Gaza is good for Israel.” He emphasized that while the fight against Hamas is justified, the current approach may not be the best course of action. He further questioned the idea of deporting the Palestinian people, suggesting that such actions do not contribute to the security of Israel or other countries in the Middle East.
The Defence Minister highlighted the need for finding a viable path for co-existence between Palestinians and Israelis. He underscored the importance of addressing the influence of Iran and terrorist organizations like Hamas to achieve this goal. Crosetto criticized the approach chosen by Netanyahu, asserting, “The way Netanyahu, not Israel, has chosen it is not the right way, in my opinion.”
