Gas Stocks in Italy at 68%, Above EU Average Says Venier

Rome: Italy’s gas stocks were running at 68% on Wednesday morning, as reported by Stefano Venier, the CEO of gas-network company SNAM. This level places the country slightly above the European average, providing Italy with a competitive edge over other European nations.

According to Ansa News Agency, Venier elaborated on the situation by stating, “We are on the higher end of the average” recorded over the “past five years.” However, he cautioned against making predictions for the coming months, as the gas inventory levels greatly depend on winter temperatures. Like other European countries, Italy’s gas reserves are significantly influenced by the climate, which remains a critical factor in determining future stock levels.
