Four Italian Lawmakers in Flotilla Released by Israel

Tel aviv: Four parliamentarians who were among the 40 Italians participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla have been released by Israeli authorities. The flotilla was intercepted while attempting to deliver aid to Gaza, according to the Italian foreign ministry.

According to Ansa News Agency, the released lawmakers include 5-Star Movement (M5S) Senator Marco Croatti, Democratic Party (PD) MEP Annalisa Corrado, Lower House PD MP Arturo Scotto, and Green Left Alliance (AVS) MEP Benedetta Scuderi. They are scheduled to return to Italy on a flight from Tel Aviv, with assistance from Italian embassy staff.

Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani engaged in multiple discussions with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa’ar, urging the immediate release of the detained lawmakers.
