Four Honored with Order of the Star of Italy in Lisbon

Lisbon: Ambassador Claudio Miscia yesterday presented the honors to the Order of the Star of Italy conferred by the President of the Republic on the recommendation of the Embassy in Lisbon.

According to Ansa News Agency, the title of OSI Knights was awarded to Italian physician Martino Gliozzi and literary agent Ella Sher. Gliozzi is recognized in Portugal for his leadership at the ASL of Martim Moniz, which he transformed into a model of efficiency and integration. Sher, on the other hand, plays a crucial role in promoting Italian literature across the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.

The event also highlighted the promotion of Italian cinema and culture. Stefano Savio from the “Il Sorpasso” Association received the rank of Officer for his 18-year dedication to organizing the Italian Film Festival in Portugal and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries. António Simões, a consular office employee in Lisbon, was also honored with the title of OSI Officer. Simões was commended for his bravery and
sacrifices during the 2006 assault on the Italian consulate in Benghazi, Libya, where he risked his life to save others. Ambassador Miscia remarked on the significance of honoring Simões, acknowledging his courageous actions during the tragic event.
