Former 2nd-Most-Wanted Man Fazzalari Out of Jail
Bologna: Italy’s former second-most-wanted fugitive, ‘Ndrangheta boss Ernesto Fazzalari, is being released from jail to house arrest for health reasons as he is suffering from an aggressive illness after a ruling by Bologna court on Sunday. Fazzalari was only second to late Cosa Nostra ‘boss of bosses’ Matteo Messina Denaro on Italy’s most wanted list when he was arrested in June 2016.
According to Ansa News Agency, Fazzalari had been receiving treatment at the diagnostic and therapeutic centre of the Parma prison. The decision to move him to house arrest comes amid concerns for his declining health condition. Fazzalari’s release marks a significant moment in Italy’s ongoing efforts to manage its prison population and address the health needs of inmates.
