Flotilla: Rome Prosecutor Probing ‘Kidnapping’

Rome: The Rome prosecutor’s office announced that it is investigating person and persons unknown on suspicion of kidnapping in connection with the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was recently intercepted by Israel while on a mission to deliver aid to Gaza. The investigation is focusing on possible crimes of kidnapping and damage, as well as causing danger to shipwreck, following complaints from the legal team representing the Italian delegation involved in the flotilla.

According to Ansa News Agency, investigators are proceeding against unknown individuals and plan to interview the 36 Italian activists who participated in the mission in the coming weeks. These interviews aim to explore the allegations further, which include charges of attempted murder and torture. The investigative team intends to reconstruct the navigation phases, examine the two drone strikes, and analyze the events that occurred after Israeli authorities boarded the vessels.
