EC Head and Cyprus President to inaugurate dialysis unit of Pafos hospital
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is arriving in Cyprus on Thursday and together with President Nikos Christodoulides, will inaugurate on Friday the dialysis unit at the Pafos General Hospital.
Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said that this afternoon President and EC Head will visit Pafos seafront and later the President will host a dinner for the President of the European Commission who is in Cyprus for the MED9 summit.
The Spokesperson said that this is a state-of-the-art unit of a total cost of 5 million euro, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility and national resources.
It is housed in a brand new building with an area of 1,300 square meters and is equipped with modern technological machinery and staffed by specialized medical and paramedical staff of the state health services organization.
It operated for the first time in October 2023 and provides patients with chronic renal failure with high-quality comprehensive medical care.
The unit is the
only one of its kind in Pafos and serves all kidney patients in the district of Pafos, as well as visitors with kidney diseases from other districts and abroad.
