Diving: Pellacani Gets Euro Gold in 1-Meter Springboard

Antalya: Chiara Pellacani, after winning silver with Matteo Santoro in the 3-meter Mixed Synchro, won the gold medal in the 1-meter springboard at the European Diving Championships underway in Antalya, Turkey, on Friday. The Italian obtained a total of 283.75 points, ahead of Sweden’s Elna Widerstrom, the defending champion, and Switzerland’s Michelle Luisa Heimberg.

According to Ansa News Agency, Pellacani becomes the third Italian to win gold from the 1-meter springboard after Tania Cagnotto and Elena Bertocchi. For the Azzurra, it is her eighteenth European medal (eight golds, six silvers, and five bronzes). Bertocchi paid for many small mistakes and did not go beyond eighth.
