Diplomacy Key to Solve Tariffs Says Tajani

Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Thursday emphasized the importance of diplomacy in protecting European and Italian companies from new tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. Tajani expressed confidence in European Commissioner for Trade, Maros Sefcovic, during his appearance on State broadcaster RaiTre’s Agor  program.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani stated, “We must solve everything through diplomacy.” He praised Sefcovic as a person with common sense who knows how to negotiate and safeguard the interests of European and Italian companies. Tajani asserted that a trade war would not be beneficial for any party involved.

In related remarks, Premier Giorgia Meloni highlighted the need to protect the agriculture sector from tariffs through diplomatic means. During her visit to the ‘Agricoltura €¹‚¬ ‘ event in Rome, Meloni was asked about safeguarding the sector, to which she replied, “with diplomacy.” Meloni is scheduled to participate in the Summit on Peace and Security of Ukraine, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, involving the so-called coalition of the willing.
