Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, will hold a tete-a-tete meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in Athens, on Thursday morning.
The meeting will focus on the latest developments regarding the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) project, in light of the approval by the Council of Ministers in Nicosia last Tuesday of the Energy Ministry’s proposal for the Cyprus-Crete electricity interconnection. In this context, the Republic of Cyprus will pay pound 25 million per year strictly, for 5 years, as a subsidy for the possible increase in consumers’ bills, from 1/1/2025-31/12/2029, so that consumers will not be burdened by the increase.
According to a written statement by the Director of the President’s Press Office, Viktoras Papadopoulos, President Christodoulides, accompanied by his wife Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, will also attend on Thursday a dinner in Athens of the Cyprus Shipowners’ Association at the Association’s Cyprus Tower premises, during which he will deliver an add

President Christodoulides will return to Cyprus in the morning of September 20.
