Cyprus Issues Travel Warning for Lebanon Citing Deteriorating Security

NICOSIA: Cyprus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a stern warning to Cypriot citizens, advising them to avoid all travel to Lebanon due to a rapidly deteriorating security situation. The ministry also encouraged those currently in Lebanon to depart using available commercial flights, highlighting the unpredictability of the circumstances which may worsen without prior notice.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively monitoring the situation in Lebanon and has released a statement urging Cypriot nationals in the country to stay clear of any gatherings and demonstrations, remain vigilant, and adhere to the instructions of local authorities. The statement emphasized the necessity for Cypriots to stay informed through both international and local media, restrict unnecessary movements, and take maximum security precautions.

In the event of an emergency, Cypriot citizens are encouraged to contact the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Beirut, which has provided contact
details for assistance during both working and non-working hours. Additionally, the ministry has made available contact numbers for the Directorate of Consular Affairs and the Crisis Management Department for further assistance and has invited Cypriots to register on the Connect2CY platform, an online registration system for Cypriots living abroad.
