Cyprus Coastal Weather Forecast: Mild Conditions with Isolated Showers Expected

CYPRUS: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a weather forecast for the sea area around Cyprus, indicating generally mild conditions but with potential isolated showers, particularly affecting the western and northern coasts. The forecast, effective from noon on October 16, 2024, until noon the following day, spans an 8-kilometer range seaward and uses local times with winds measured on the Beaufort scale.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the region is under the influence of weak low pressure which may lead to increased cloud coverage at times, primarily over the western and northern coasts of Cyprus. Despite the possibility of isolated showers, visibility is expected to remain good, although it could moderate during showers. The sea surface temperature is currently recorded at 26°C, and there are no marine warnings in effect.

The detailed forecast for specific coastal areas includes varying wind patterns and sea states:

– On the West Coast, conditions will range from smooth to slight with winds
shifting from southwest to northwest throughout the period.

– The South Coast will experience similar conditions with winds predominantly moving from southeast to southwest, then settling from the west to northwest.

– The East Coast will see south to southwest winds during the afternoon, shifting to west to northwest by morning with sea conditions remaining smooth to slight.

– The North Coast will have consistent northwest winds, maintaining smooth to slight sea conditions throughout the forecast period.

This forecast is crucial for local fishermen, mariners, and coastal residents planning their activities around these mild maritime conditions.
