According to Ansa News Agency, a text message sent by Poggi’s cousin to another relative stated, “I think we’ve framed Stasi,” raising questions about the integrity of the conviction. This revelation was reported by the weekly magazine Giallo. Despite this claim, the cousins involved in the exchange have not been placed under investigation.
