Coop Faces Backlash Over Alleged Anti-Semitic Actions, Milan Jews Demand Apology

Milan: The Coop group is facing calls for an apology from the Jewish community in Milan after some of its local cooperatives in Italy stopped selling Israeli goods and began offering “Gaza Cola.” This decision was made as a form of protest against what has been described as an alleged genocide occurring in the Gaza Strip.

According to Ansa News Agency, Walter Meghnagi, president of the Jewish Community of Milan, issued a statement condemning the actions of the Coop group. Meghnagi criticized the decision as having “an unmistakably anti-Semitic flavor” and indicated that it leaves a lasting blemish on the history of the cooperatives. He held Coop’s top management morally co-responsible for fostering a sentiment of hatred against Jews.

Meghnagi emphasized that the only appropriate response from the Coop managers is to issue an apology. The controversy has sparked significant discussion regarding the responsibilities of businesses in the political arena and the impact of their decisions on various communities.
