Consul General in Mumbai Inaugurates Groundbreaking Italian Art Exhibition in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Held last night at Ahmedabad’s ‘079’ Gallery, the inauguration of the exhibition ‘Jyot’ (Fire) by Italian artist Roberto Rup Paolini marked a significant cultural event. The exhibition, dedicated to contemporary Italian art, is the first of its kind in Gujarat and was supported by the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, signifying a new milestone in Italian-Indian cultural dialogue.

According to Ansa News Agency, Consul General Walter Ferrara highlighted the enduring relationship between Italian and Indian cultures, bound by a thousand-year history and the powerful symbolism of fire, which is the central theme of Paolini’s work. Ferrara expressed, “We are honored to present in Ahmedabad, a UNESCO heritage city with a vibrant cultural fabric, the works of Roberto Rup Paolini.”

The exhibition, which explores fire as a primordial element of creation and purification, serves as a cultural bridge between Italy and India. Ferrara emphasized that this exhibition is not merely an art display but a new
beginning for artistic collaboration, creating a direct link between the House of Artists in Milan and Gallery 079 in Ahmedabad. This initiative is part of a broader artistic exchange program promoted by the Consulate General, facilitated by curators Caterina Corni and Giulia Restifo. The next phase will occur in October when an Indian painter will participate in an artist residency program in Milan.
