Centre-Left Clinches Taranto Mayoral Office While Centre-Right Secures Matera

Taranto: The centre-left has successfully claimed the mayor’s office in the run-off elections held in Taranto on Monday. Pietro Bitetti maintained a 9-10 point lead over his centre-right opponent, Francesco Tacente, with more than half of the polling stations reporting the results.

According to Ansa News Agency, the electoral dynamics in Matera presented a contrasting outcome. In this other provincial capital, the centre-right’s Antonio Nicoletti managed to secure a three-point lead over centre-left contender Roberto Cifarelli. This result represents a significant shift from the first round, where Cifarelli had initially been ahead. With half of the polling stations reporting, Nicoletti’s lead appeared robust, indicating a reversal of the preliminary round’s outcome.
