Carnival Treats See Price Hike as Butter Costs Rise

Rome: The prices of Italy’s traditional Carnival treats frappe and castagnole have increased by 6-8% this year. This rise is attributed to a 20% increase in the price of butter and a 10% rise in the price of chocolate.

According to Ansa News Agency, despite the price hikes, sales of these popular treats appear to have remained “unaffected.” The consumer group Codacons reported the changes on Sunday, noting the financial impact of ingredient costs on the traditional confections enjoyed during the festive season.
