Births in Italy Fall to New Low

Rome: The number of babies born in Italy dropped to a new low in 2024, with 369,944 births registered, marking a decline of 2.6% compared to the previous year, Istat announced on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the national statistics agency reported that provisional data indicated a further decrease in births. Between January and July 2025, there were 13,000 fewer births compared to the same period in 2024, representing a drop of 6.3%.
