Attila Flöp: The overwhelming majority of child protection workers accepted the necessity of the suitability test

95 percent of those working in child protection agreed to submit to the impeccable lifestyle and psychological examination, stated the state secretary of the Ministry of the Interior responsible for care policy, a KDNP politician, in an interview published in Magyar Nemzet on Friday .

The state secretary emphasized that the suitability test was introduced to protect children who were left without parents and are being raised in children’s homes.

We can only entrust children and the management of children’s homes to people who we know do not want to work near vulnerable children in order to take advantage of them.”

he said.

“Pedophiles and violent people cannot be allowed near children,” he emphasized.

According to Attila Flöp’s assessment, the overwhelming majority of child protection workers are partners in “reliable and clean people serving in child protection”.

It is not true that people have fled and are not willing to work in child protection, he stated in response to the press reports. He added t
hat almost two hundred new workers have applied to state-run institutions since the law came into force.

Speaking about the investigations, he said that most slippages in the press appeared in connection with the lifestyle investigation. In Hungary, such an examination is mandatory not only for child protection workers, but also for many other jobs, he said. He added that there were strict rules in child protection before, for example, you could only enter the system with a special moral certificate.

According to his evaluation, the introduction of the new child protection law was a “hussar’s step” aimed at creating order and security.

We can never completely rule out the possibility of abuse, but it is the state’s responsibility to minimize the risk of it happening.”

he declared.

He also mentioned that the primary goal of the child protection system is for the children growing up there to obtain a marketable education. In his opinion, it is an important step in this regard that the priority public servi
ce class was launched at the Facultas Human High School in Budapest, in which only children living in child protection who want to continue their studies at the National University of Public Service after four years study. He added:

and the Apponyi Franciska program helps children to find a job that suits them.”
