At Least 20 Migrants Drown as Boat Capsizes Off Lampedusa

Lampedusa: At least 20 migrants are reported to have drowned after their small boat capsized off Lampedusa Wednesday, rescuers said. Rescue operations were described as being “very complex”.

According to Ansa News Agency, some 20 bodies have been recovered, and there are 70-80 survivors. It is feared there may be more victims. This incident marks one of the worst recent tragedies off the small stepping-stone island between Sicily and Tunisia.
