Anti-Abortion Room at Turin Hospital Ordered to Close by Regional Court

Turin: An anti-abortion “Listening Room” established by pro-life organizations at Turin’s Sant’Anna Hospital has been mandated to close by the regional administrative court (TAR) of Piedmont. This decision came after the court upheld a plea from the CGIL leftwing trade union and various pro-choice groups.

According to Ansa News Agency, the controversial room has been operational since September of the previous year, following an agreement between the pro-life group and Turin’s Citt  della Salute health authority. The purpose of the room was to counsel pregnant women against proceeding with abortions.

Giorgia Meloni’s rightwing government had previously granted permission for pro-life groups to establish such advisory spaces within abortion facilities. The court’s ruling represents a significant development in the ongoing debate over reproductive rights in the region.
