Albanian Mafia’s 350kg Cocaine Trafficking Operation Uncovered Near Brescia
Brescia: Italian police have revealed that the Albanian mafia orchestrated the transportation of approximately 350 kilogrammes of cocaine from South America in a truck that was intercepted near Brescia, north of Milan, in 2021. The operation, which involved two Albanian clans, highlights the growing influence and reach of these criminal organizations in the region.
According to Ansa News Agency, the police operation was a collaborative effort that involved close coordination with Albanian security officers. This partnership was crucial in dismantling the drug trafficking network and seizing the substantial cocaine shipment.
Napoli Chief Prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, noted for his expertise on Italian mafias, has recently commented on the rising threat posed by the Albanian syndicate. He stated that the group is rapidly becoming the second most dangerous mafia in Italy, following Calabria’s ‘Ndrangheta. This development underscores the increasing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating organized crime.
