Actress Jun Ichikawa Named Ambassador of Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka
Osaka: Jun Ichikawa, a Japanese film, theatre, and television actress, has been appointed as an Ambassador for the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. Known for her extensive work in Italy, Ichikawa will contribute to the Italy Pavilion by creating projects that enhance artistic and cultural dialogue between Italy and Japan.
According to Ansa News Agency, Ichikawa is currently on tour with “Iliad – the game of gods” alongside Alessio Boni. Her artistic journey focuses on themes such as mythology, current affairs, and spirituality, fostering cultural dialogue between Italy and Japan. Ichikawa expressed her honor in being named an Ambassador, stating her desire to facilitate a deeper exchange between the two countries through art and show business.
“It is a great honor to be able to be an Ambassador of the Italy Pavilion, and I hope I can give my contribution so the exchange between Italy and Japan can widen through reciprocal knowledge in the world of art and show business,” said Ichikawa.
Ambassador Mario Vattani, the Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, praised Ichikawa’s appointment, highlighting her career as an example of the deep connection between Italy and Japan. Vattani emphasized the Expo’s theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” noting that the role of Ambassador encourages engagement with art and culture.
Ichikawa, who grew up in Japan and Italy, began her acting career in Italy and has collaborated with notable theatre actors. Her film career includes a leading role in “Singing behind screens” and appearances in TV series that have increased her popularity. She has worked with directors such as Ridley Scott, Dario Argento, and Giuseppe Tornatore, and actors like Dustin Hoffman and Peter Greenaway.
Renowned as a voice actress, Ichikawa has provided voiceovers for major films, including the Harry Potter series and Marvel’s “Eternals.” Her recent work also includes acting in the Japanese movie “Taverna de Gaga.”
Ichikawa joins other distinguished figures from Japanese culture and business as Ambassadors for the Italy Pavilion, including designer Junko Koshino, industrial designer Ken Okuyama, and orchestra conductor Tomomi Nishimoto.
