Abodi Bats Away Charges of Wimbledon Absence

Rome: Sports Minister Andrea Abodi on Monday dismissed accusations that he or other Italian government officials should have attended Sunday’s Wimbledon final to witness Jannik Sinner’s triumph over Carlos Alcaraz. “Even a minister sometimes happens to have to spend a Sunday with his family,” said Abodi.

According to Ansa News Agency, King Felipe VI of Spain was present to support Alcaraz during the match, alongside members of the British royal family. The absence of Italian officials was noted, prompting discussions about the importance of governmental representation at significant sporting events. However, Abodi maintained that personal commitments sometimes take precedence, even for public figures.
