6 Million Italians to Dine Out on Valentine’s Day, Says FIPE
Rome: Over six million people are expected to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a meal at one of the over 133,000 restaurants in Italy, according to estimates published Wednesday by the Italian federation of public services (FIPE).
According to Ansa News Agency, the overall expenditure for lunches and dinners celebrating romance and friendship is projected to reach around 330 million euros. This year’s celebrations are particularly favored by the fact that Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday, making it an ideal occasion for dining out.
The federation highlights that a restaurant meal remains a popular choice for celebrating this special day, alongside traditional gifts such as flowers and chocolates. Chefs are offering all-inclusive menus featuring a variety of options, including platters of oysters and caviar, red-themed desserts, and ros© wine.
FIPE also notes a growing trend this year to extend the celebration throughout the weekend. Many couples are opting for one or two-night stays at romantic destinations, including small towns and mountain resorts, to mark the occasion.
