6-Km Route Planned for Pope’s Coffin to Santa Maria Maggiore: To Be Monitored

Rome: The route that Pope Francis’ coffin will take on Saturday, at the end of the funeral, to reach Santa Maria Maggiore (St Mary Major) where he will be buried will be “carefully monitored”, sources said Wednesday. The funeral procession’s journey spans approximately six kilometers.

According to Ansa News Agency, more than one itinerary is being considered for the solemn event. The shortest proposed route includes passing through Corso Vittorio, Piazza Venezia, Via Nazionale, and then reaching the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The authorities are ensuring that every aspect of the procession is meticulously planned to maintain order and respect during the event.
