48 Hours of Severe Weather Expected in Italy Due to Double Front

Rome: Severe bad weather is anticipated over the next 48 hours across several regions of Italy, with maximum alerts issued for cloudbursts, wind, and storm surges in Sicily and Calabria, as well as parts of southern Sardinia and other southern areas. This was reported by Lorenzo Tedici, a meteorologist from the site www.iLMeteo.it.

According to Ansa News Agency, the severe weather conditions are the result of a clash between a Tunisian cyclone and a Polish front. Tedici stated that Sicily is expected to experience the heaviest rainfall, with accumulations possibly exceeding 100 mm. Additional torrential rains are forecasted to affect the same areas and the rest of the southern peninsula, while weather conditions in Sardinia are expected to improve.

Later on Thursday, the second weather disturbance is predicted to bring showers, thunderstorms, and heavy hail to the North-East, eventually spreading to the West. By Friday, the merging of the two weather fronts is expected to result in cloudbursts in the South and the Central Adriatic, accompanied by gusty winds, storm surges, and other violent weather phenomena.

The weather is expected to improve over the weekend, with clear skies prevailing on Saturday and Sunday, though scattered showers may still occur, particularly in the afternoon and near the mountainous regions of the central-north. However, the beginning of the following week is anticipated to bring further disturbances from the Atlantic sector.

Tedici concluded by noting that rain and showers are expected to affect Italy in a scattered manner at least until Friday, with the central-northern regions being particularly impacted.

The detailed forecast outlines the following weather conditions:

– Thursday: In the North, conditions will worsen by the afternoon, starting from Triveneto. In the Center, the weather will remain dry but often cloudy, with showers in Sardinia. In the South, severe bad weather is expected to begin in Sicily.

– Friday: In the North, mainly good weather is expected, with cool temperatures in the morning. In the Center, severe bad weather is anticipated on the Adriatic coast. In the South, severe bad weather will persist.

– Saturday: In the North, sunnier conditions are expected except for local showers. In the Center, sunnier weather is also anticipated except for isolated showers. In the South, some rain is predicted in Calabria.

– Outlook for Sunday and next week: The forecast includes sun and showers on Sunday, with continued instability and rain in the Center-North next week, and hot temperatures in the South.
