Bologna: Twelve people have been placed under investigation in connection with an explosion at a Toyota plant near Bologna that killed two people and injured 11 others last October, judicial sources said Tuesday. The Bologna Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the workplace accident at Toyota Material Handling in Borgo Panigale, on October 23, 2024.
According to Ansa News Agency, the 12 individuals have been registered in view of a one-off technical consultancy, which is set to be assigned on May 5. The objective of the consultancy is to reconstruct the dynamics of the events and reassemble the system affected by the explosion inside the plant.
The investigation is focusing on the heating-refrigeration plant, which had a tank connected to it from which the explosion apparently originated. Among those investigated is Michele Candiani, CEO of Toyota Material Handling. He and Toyota deny all wrongdoing or negligence.
